PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

VISUAL DENTAL EXAM

We will examine your mouth, neck and throat for any abnormalities to prevent or detect disease and injury.

Additional screening may include a CBCT scan to see what’s going on under the surface and determine the best course of action.

Visual dental exams are a first defense for maintaining healthy tissue, teeth, bite, and bone structures.

PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING

Our dental cleanings will leave your teeth feeling fresh and looking sparkling.

You can relax in a calming environment as we gently remove build up, floss and polish.

We’ll also check for any cavities or special areas to pay close attention to as you continue your dental hygiene regimen at home.

If you have any questions or concerns about your personal dental care, you may discuss this with the dentist at your appointment.

GINGIVAL POCKET EXAM

To determine the health of your gum tissue, a periodontal examination can be performed in our office.

This examination requires a small dental probe to measure the depth of the pockets around your teeth.

Infection and bone loss can occur if pockets are large enough to promote excessive bacterial growth.

SEALANTS

Patients who are prone to cavities or have deep molar crevasse may consider sealants.

Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids. In fact, sealants have been shown to reduce the risk of decay by nearly 80% in molars.

Placing sealants is a quick and painless process. Your dentist will clean and dry your tooth before placing an acidic gel on your teeth. This gel roughs up your tooth surface so a strong bond will form between your tooth and the sealant. After a few seconds, your dentist will rinse off the gel and dry your tooth once again before applying the sealant onto the grooves of your tooth. Your dentist will then use a special blue light to harden the sealant.
